spam makes me popular

August 30, 2007

so, okay, i’m not a huge stat-fan

but i look

and one of the things that has really troubled me is the decline in viewers since i moved my site.

sure, i expected to lose some readers, maybe even as much as 50% of my readership

but i did not expect such a drastic plummet in stats.

then yesterday, i was moderating a comment and noticed that akismet had captured a whopping 11 spam comments (that’s 11 since i moved over here, not 11 yesterday)

on my old site i pulled in 300-500 spam comments a week from the viagra/cialis camp alone.

and that’s when it dawned on me

::

i haven’t lost readers (well, surely a few) . . .

i’ve lost stalkers

    akismet rocks 🙂

    your old readers will find you eventually – when they get around to changing their links – it took me FOREVER when I moved to wordpress a year ago. NOW I’m MOVING AGAIN – and I wonder how many more I’ll lose – but oh well, it’s their loss if they don’t want to find me 🙂

    yes, but when people lose you, surely there is a sense of something missing in their life.

    when they lose me it’s probably more like a slow-dawning relief, as when your poison ivy finally begins to fade . . .
