friends don't let friends . . .

. . . cook after midnight

i made the worst soup the other night.

i had had to work late and i knew i had to get up at the crack of dawn to go back to work the next morning and i knew i wouldn’t be getting home til very late, so i figured i’d start a pot of soup and have my wife transfer it to the crock pot the next day to finish simmering.

good plan, neh?

except that i started out making tortilla soup.

and the top came off the red pepper flakes (i normally use only a dash of these) and i got waaay too many in and was not able to fish them all out.

then halfway through adding the ingredients i had what must’ve been a highly explosive brain fart, because i started adding ingredients for my spinach vegetable soup, starting with (you guessed it) a big bag of frozen spinach.

the resulting soup was flat out disastrous

needless to say, this one won’t be going on my cooking blog

I feel so guilty for laughing because I would be thrilled if hubby would cook for me. But when you started making a different soup half way through I could only imagine how awful the result must’ve been for you to describe it as disasterous
